City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Format: Paperback, 453 Pages
Series: The Mortal Instruments BOOK 2
Check out the review of the first book, City of Bones

Very rarely does a sequel be as good as the first book, and it is even rarer that the sequel is better than the first.
When I finished City of Ashes

Very rarely does a sequel be as good as the first book, and it is even rarer that the sequel is better than the first.

Like the action-packed City of Bones, there is lots of things happening. It starts when the Soul Sword, the second Mortal Instrument, is stolen and then Jace becomes the suspect. And now, Clary Fray must try to stop Valentine from killing more Downworlder children.

What I really liked about this book is that it is BETTER than City of Bones! It sure is addictive and has a much better pacing. It was fun from the first page to the last and there was never a dull moment. Another aspect I really liked was that Clare actually introduced even more interesting characters to the story.

Now, let's move on to what I didn't really like. In my opinion, there were not as many twists in City of Ashes; the writing was not as witty. I also expected to learn more about Magnus and Alec's relationship but sadly, there was not much depth.

On a whole, a strong sequel and let's hope that Jace and Clary aren't siblings!

    1. YES! I heard about it too. But some people didn't like the fourth one, so I hope that I love it! I am reading City of Glass now. :)
