The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger

 

  I dove into this book, not sure what to expect of it. I did have a moderately-high expectation, and I was a little let-down.

  The Catcher in the Rye is definitely a character driven book.The narrator is sixteen year-old Holden Caulfield and we follow him around New York after he got expelled from yet another prestigious prep school.And "a depressed teen wanders aimlessly around New York City" would basically sum up this classic.

  Holden Caulfield was annoying at times but after the whole novel, I liked him. Quite a bit. His personality, character, etc. really captured the"coming-of-age" part. Some parts of the story was intriguing. And yeah.... that is all I have to say about the PROS of the novel.


  I didn't really like the writing style. Too much of swearing and stuff.

  I really have to stop here.... Seriously. I am speechless. I just have to say that I felt that it was over-rated. And I was a little surprised that it took me a while to get through this book. K BYE.
